A Quick Trip To Kansas City
November 17, 2024
Just a short three-hour drive from Lincoln, Nebraska, our current home, Kansas City, Missouri is a common trip destination. This past Sunday, Bailey and I decided to make a day trip to KC for a concert and a hockey game. The timing worked out perfectly to make both the game and the show, without missing a thing or forcing an early morning (by now, many know how difficult that can be for us).
Kansas City Mavericks Hockey Game
The Kansas City Mavericks are an ECHL (two steps below the NHL) hockey team that plays in Independence, Missouri at Cable Dahmer Arena. This wasn’t our first time seeing the Mavericks play, but this was the first time we were rooting for them. The last time we visited Cable Dahmer Arena, the Newfoundland Growlers were in town, and that was our favorite team. However, this time they took on the Wichita Thunder, so we could happily cheer on the home team. The Mavericks won 2-0.
Livingston At Madrid Theatre
Bailey has become quite the fan of Livingston, and I liked his music prior to this show, but I wasn’t quite as big of a fan in comparison. The theatre playing host to the show was the Madrid Theatre in Uptown KC. This venue boasts some pretty great reviews.
The Madrid Theatre was beautiful and had some pretty cool features, such as the stunning water fountain right as you enter. The venue has two floors, with limited seating in the balcony, and bars on both levels.
While I was a fan of Livingston before the show, I am now a much bigger fan of his. He puts on an incredible show and his vocals sound identical to his recorded music, more than any other artist that I’ve had the pleasure to see live. It was quite impressive. He has a lot of energy while on stage and puts on a great performance for his fans. All around, if you get the chance, I highly recommend you attend a Livingston show.
We left the show with a vinyl of Livingston’s album entitled “Hometown Odyssey”.
